In a small town in Soviet Poland, Jan Mendyk has returned from a war no one would believe he fought. Now, he returns to his home town, Ostoja, a sleepy place by the sea, and finds that this war has followed him home, only on a different front. Marcel, a young man from Jan’s childhood, has found himself caught up in a sweeping faerie plot to change the world, with his home at the center.
